New Press Box Being Installed at Grand Saline Indian Football Field
GRAND SALINE-Grand Saline Indian football fans are in for a treat when the tribe hits the gridiron come fall with the addition of a new press box sitting atop the home stands.
The new press box installation was delayed by a week and a half due to the recent rain that made the ground to wet for the work to be done. At the May meeting of the Grand Saline School board the board discussed the delay, but the hopes were that the work could be completed by the time the graduation ceremony was scheduled to be held Friday.
Thursday crews on site with heavy equipment setting the new press box in place. The first section of the press box was in place and the second section was awaiting installation on a flabed trailer behind the home stands.
The press box will not be operational when the 2021 graduates of Grand Saline High School take the field to walk the stage. Wiring and plumbing the press box will be done in time for the first kickoff in the fall.
Superintendent Micah Lewis said that the new press box will be single story but obviously longer than the old box.
The new press box will be equipped with heating and air conditioning and will include a restroom. It will also have a covered open-air deck on top for coaching staff.
