Lester Whatley (1946-2021)

A funeral service for Lester “Wayne” Whatley, 74, of Grand Saline, Texas was held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Eubank Funeral Home. Followed by a graveside at Creagleville Cemetery in Grand Saline.


 Wayne, as he was called by friends, went to live with his JESUS on February 3, 2021. Wayne was born on October 20, 1946 in Grand Saline, Texas to Lester Ray Whatley and Christine Scott Whatley. He grew up in the Grand Saline area.  Wayne was a retired truck driver and had a passion for motorcycles.  After marrying Starlyn Mair in 2001, they put a lot of miles on his bike.  He loved riding across the country on his bike with his brothers. Wayne enjoyed tinkering with cars, doing yardwork or anything else that had him outside.  Wayne loved life and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.


 He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Christine Whatley; first wife, Jane Whatley.


 Wayne is survived by wife, Starlyn Whatley; children, Michelle Whatley Scarbough and husband, Randy, Christopher J. Whatley and wife, Jessica, Jacob I. Whatley; grandchildren, Derek Jones, Chaz Jones, Molly Whatley and Jesse Lynn Whatley; great grandchildren, Bailey Whatley and Katherine Whatley; brothers, Troy Whatley and wife, Sharon, Gary Whatley and wife, Tia; aunt, Faye Williams; many other family and friends.
