VAN, Texas – Attorney Tina Brumbelow announced her campaign today to become the Republican nominee for the court of the 294th Judicial District of Texas. The current presiding official of the 294th court, Judge Teresa Drum, stated earlier this year that she would retire at the end of her term.

“My diverse legal practice has uniquely equipped me to handle both the heavy criminal caseload and the many civil matters that will be litigated in the 294th Judicial District Court,” said Brumbelow, who has been practicing law for sixteen years with more than a dozen of them in East Texas.

Brumbelow lives in Van with her husband and family. When not busy running her own legal practice, she enjoys hunting and helping with her teenager’s fishing team at Van High School.

“Not many people realize that the 294th has a docket crowded with criminal and family cases. It takes a lot of energy and patience to hear everyone’s voice in these emotional matters and to keep the cases progressing in a way that is fair and just,” said Brumbelow.

“As judge. I will actively listen and rule in accordance with the U.S Constitution and the laws of the State of Texas. I will also safeguard every litigant’s rights to due process.”

Brumbelow has also served in missions in South America and has been a supporter of the Van High School FFA.

“I also want to continue the programs started by Judge Drum, including recouping court appointed fees and child support. I feel it’s important that the 294th operate without any undue burden on taxpayers.”

Brumbelow graduated from South Texas College of Law and interned for former Van Zandt County District Judge Richard Davis in 2000. She is married to Dean Stone, Jr., and has three children by marriage, Amber, Melody and Lane. Amber attends college locally, Melody is ministering internationally, and Lane is a freshman at Van High School. The family attends the Church of Garden Valley.

The Republican Primary will be held on March 6, 2018.
