Cleota Egbert (1915-2017)

Services for Cleota Egbert, 102, of Grand Saline, were scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Bartley Funeral Home with Kyle White, Rex White and Doug Carroll officiating.

Interment was held in Woodside Cemetery.

Mrs. Egbert passed away August 5, 2017 in a Tyler hospice. She was born January 6, 1915, in Grand Saline, to Columbus Rayford “Lum” & Ada Florence Carroll Harris. She spent all of her life in Grand Saline where she graduated from Grand Saline High School and was a member of the Grand Saline Church of Christ. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 20 years and Buddy Schoelkopff’s for 19 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Egbert in 1991; and sister, Pauline Presswood.

Survivors include cousins, Doug Carroll and wife Anita of Grand Saline, Ellis Carroll and wife Dottie of Edgewood, Orvin Carroll of Alba and Faye Hughes and husband Larry of Golden; nephews, James Presswood and wife Sharon of Grand Saline, Billy Paul Presswood and wife Susie of Tyler; Keith Presswood of Ft. Worth, Neely Wright and wife Karyn of Arlington; her church family; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Floyd Brown, Danny Milam, Larry Jackson and Charles Giesecke.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Clower, Billy Koonce, Dave Johnstone and Bob Adkins.

The family received friends 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
